Tôi nghe như vầy:
Một thời đức Phật trú tại vườn Cấp Cô Độc, rừng cây Kỳ-đà, nước Xá-vệ.
Bấy giờ, Thế Tôn bảo các Tỳ-kheo:
“Có hai thí này. Những gì là hai? Pháp thí, tài thí. Trên hết trong bố thí, không gì hơn pháp thí.
“Cho nên, này các Tỳ-kheo, thường nên học pháp thí. Như vậy, này các Tỳ-kheo, hãy học điều này.”
Các Tỳ-kheo sau khi nghe những gì đức Phật dạy, hoan hỷ phụng hành.
聞如是：
一時，佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨 T 0577b15園。
爾時，世尊告諸比丘：「有此二施。云何為 T 0577b16二？所謂法施、財施。諸比丘！施中之上者不 T 0577b17過法施。是故，諸比丘！常當學法施。如是，諸 T 0577b18比丘！當作是學。」
爾時，諸比丘聞佛所說，歡 T 0577b19喜奉行。
T 0577b20 SC 1Thus I have heard: One time, the Buddha was staying at Anāthapiṇḍada’s Park in Jeta’s Grove of Śrāvastī.
SC 2It was then that the Bhagavān addressed the monks, “There are two kinds of gifts. What are the two? They are Dharma gifts and material gifts. Monks, the best of gifts doesn’t go beyond Dharma gifts.
SC 3Therefore, monks, you should always train in making Dharma gifts. Thus, monks, you should train yourselves.”
SC 4When the monks heard what the Buddha taught, they rejoiced and approved.
