Tôi nghe như vầy:
Một thời đức Phật trú tại vườn Cấp Cô Độc, rừng cây Kỳ-đà, nước Xá-vệ. Bấy giờ, Thế Tôn bảo các Tỳ-kheo:
“Có một con người xuất hiện ở thế gian, đem nhiều lợi ích cho người, an ổn chúng sanh, thương đời ngu tối, muốn khiến Trời Người có được phước hựu. Một con người đó là ai? Đó là đức Như Lai, A-la-hán, Chánh đẳng giác. Đó gọi là có một con người xuất hiện ở thế gian đem nhiều lợi ích cho người, an ổn chúng sanh, thương đời ngu tối, muốn khiến Trời Người có được phước hựu.
“Cho nên, này các Tỳ-kheo, nên khởi lòng cung kính đối với Như Lai. Vậy, này các Tỳ-kheo, hãy học điều này.”
Các Tỳ-kheo sau khi nghe những gì Phật dạy, hoan hỷ phụng hành.
聞如是：
一時，佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨 T 0561a09園。
爾時，世尊告諸比丘：「若有一人出現於 T 0561a10世，多饒益人，安隱眾生，愍世群萌，欲使 T 0561a11天、人獲其福祐。云何為一人？所謂多薩阿 T 0561a12竭、阿羅呵、三耶三佛。是謂一人出現於世， T 0561a13多饒益人，安隱眾生，愍世群萌，欲使天、人 T 0561a14獲其福祐。是故，諸比丘！常興恭敬於如來 T 0561a15所。是故，諸比丘！當作是學。」
爾時，諸比丘聞 T 0561a16佛所說，歡喜奉行。
T 0561a17 SC 1Thus I have heard: One time, the Buddha was staying at Anāthapiṇḍada’s Park in Jeta’s Grove of Śrāvastī.
SC 2It was then that the Bhagavān addressed the monks, “There’s one person who appears in the world to benefit many people and bring well-being to sentient beings out of compassion for the world’s multitudes and the desire for gods and humans to obtain their good fortunes. Who is that one person? He is called the Tathāgata, the Arhat, the Correctly and Perfectly Awakened One. He is known as the one person who appears in the world to benefit many people and bring well-being to sentient beings out of compassion for the world’s multitudes and the desire for gods and humans to obtain their good fortunes.
SC 3“Therefore, monks, always pay respect to the Tathāgata. Thus, monks, you should train yourselves.”
SC 4When the monks heard what the Buddha taught, they rejoiced and approved.
