Tôi nghe như vầy:
Một thời đức Phật trú tại vườn Cấp Cô Độc, rừng cây Kỳ-đà, tại nước Xá-vệ. Bấy giờ, Thế Tôn bảo các Tỳ-kheo:
“Có một con người mà xuất hiện ở thế gian, thì bấy giờ tất cả Trời Người đều đông đúc, chúng sanh ba đường ác liền tự giảm thiểu. Giống như đất nước lúc có Thánh vương cai trị giáo hóa, thì nhân dân trong thành này đông mạnh, nước láng giềng sức yếu hơn, Ở đây cũng vậy. Nếu lúc Như Lai, xuất hiện thế gian, thì ba đường ác liền tự giảm thiểu.
“Cho nên các Tỳ-kheo, nên khởi lòng tin đối với Phật. Vì vậy, này các Tỳ-kheo, hãy học điều này.”
Các Tỳ-kheo sau khi nghe những gì Phật dạy, hoan hỷ phụng hành.
聞如是：
一時，佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園。
T 0561c17爾時，世尊告諸比丘：「若有一人出現於世， T 0561c18爾時天及人民皆悉熾盛，三惡眾生便自減 T 0561c19少。猶如國界聖王治化時，彼城中人民熾盛， T 0561c20隣國力弱。此亦如是。若多薩阿竭出現世 T 0561c21時，三惡趣道便自減少。如是，諸比丘！當信 T 0561c22向佛。是故，諸比丘！當作是學。」
爾時，諸比丘 T 0561c23聞佛所說，歡喜奉行。
T 0561c24 SC 1Thus I have heard: One time, the Buddha was staying at Anāthapiṇḍada’s Park in Jeta’s Grove of Śrāvastī.
SC 2It was then that the Bhagavān addressed the monks, “When one person appears in the world, gods and humans all flourish during that time, and the sentient beings in the three bad destinies dwindle in number. It’s just as when a noble [wheel-turning] king rules the world. The people in his capitol flourish, and neighboring countries weaken. This is likewise. When the Tathāgata, Arhat, and Correctly and Perfectly Awakened One appears in the world, [gods and humans all flourish, and] the sentient beings in the three evil destinies dwindle in number.
SC 3“Therefore, monks, you should believe in the Buddha. Thus, monks, you should train yourselves.”
SC 4When the monks heard what the Buddha taught, they rejoiced and approved.
