Tôi nghe như vầy:
Một thời đức Phật trú tại vườn Cấp Cô Độc, rừng cây Kỳ-đà, tại nước Xá-vệ. Bấy giờ, Thế Tôn bảo các Tỳ-kheo:
“Có một con người mà xuất hiện ở thế gian, thì vô minh tối tăm liền tự tiêu diệt. Bấy giờ, những kẻ phàm ngu bị kết sử trói buộc bởi vô minh sở kiến này, nên không biết như thật về con đường sinh tử, luân hồi qua lại từ đời này qua đời sau, từ kiếp này qua kiếp nọ, không cởi trói được. Nếu lúc đó có Như Lai, A-la-hán, Chánh đẳng Chánh giác xuất hiện ở thế gian, thì vô minh tối tăm liền tự tiêu diệt.
“Cho nên các Tỳ-kheo, nên nhớ thừa sự chư Phật. Vì vậy, này các Tỳ-kheo, hãy học điều này.”
Các Tỳ-kheo sau khi nghe những gì Phật dạy, hoan hỷ phụng hành.
聞如是：
一時，佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨 T 0561b10園。
爾時，世尊告諸比丘：「若有一人出現於 T 0561b11世，無明大冥便自消滅。爾時，凡愚之士為 T 0561b12此無明所見纏結，生死所趣，如實不知， T 0561b13周旋往來今世、後世，從劫至劫，無有解 T 0561b14已；若多薩阿竭、阿羅呵、三耶三佛出現世時， T 0561b15無明大闇便自消滅。是故，諸比丘！當念承 T 0561b16事諸佛。如是，諸比丘！當作是學。」
爾時，諸比 T 0561b17丘聞佛所說，歡喜奉行。
T 0561b18 SC 1Thus I have heard: One time, the Buddha was staying at Anāthapiṇḍada’s Park in Jeta’s Grove of Śrāvastī.
SC 2It was then that the Bhagavān addressed the monks, “There’s one person who appears in the world and destroys the great darkness of ignorance himself. At the time, ordinary deluded men are bound up by this ignorance. They don’t truly know the destinations of birth and death, and they cycle through present and later lives. Having gone from eon to eon without understanding, the Tathāgata, the Arhat, and the Correctly and Perfectly Awakened One appears in the world and destroys the great darkness of ignorance himself.
SC 3“Therefore, monks, always be mindful and obey the Tathāgata. Thus, monks, you should train yourselves.”
SC 4When the monks heard what the Buddha taught, they rejoiced and approved.
