Tôi nghe như vầy:
Một thời đức Phật trú tại vườn Cấp Cô Độc, rừng cây Kỳ-đà, tại nước Xá-vệ. Bấy giờ, Thế Tôn bảo các Tỳ-kheo:
“Ta ở trong chúng này không thấy một pháp nào tối thắng, tối diệu, nó huyền hoặc người đời khiến không đi đến nơi vĩnh viễn tịch tĩnh, mà trói buộc vào lao ngục không giải thoát được; đó là, người nữ thấy sắc của người nam, liền khởi tưởng đắm trước, tâm ý hết mực yêu thương, khiến không đi đến nơi vĩnh viễn tịch tĩnh, mà trói buộc vào lao ngục không giải thoát được, ý không lìa bỏ, xoay vần qua lại đời này đời sau, luân chuyển năm đường, trải qua bao kiếp.”
Bấy giờ, Thế Tôn, liền nói kệ:
Nếu sinh tưởng điên đảo,
Khởi niệm, tâm ân ái.
Hãy trừ tâm mê đắm,
Liền không cấu uế này.
“Cho nên, này các Tỳ-kheo, hãy trừ các sắc, chớ khởi ý tưởng đắm trước. Như vậy, này các Tỳ-kheo, các ngươi hãy học điều này.”
Các Tỳ-kheo sau khi nghe những gì Phật dạy, hoan hỷ phụng hành.
聞如是：
一時，佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨 T 0563a28園。
爾時，世尊告諸比丘：「我於此眾中，不見 T 0563a29一法最勝最妙，眩惑世人，不生永寂，縛 T 0563b01著牢獄，無有解已。所謂女見男子色已， T 0563b02便起想著，意甚愛敬，令人不至永寂，縛著 T 0563b03牢獄，無有解已。意不捨離，周旋往來，今 T 0563b04世後世，迴轉五道，動歷劫數。」
爾時，世尊便 T 0563b05說偈曰：
T 0563b06
「若生顛倒想， 興念恩愛心， T 0563b07
除念意染著， 便無此諸穢。
T 0563b08「是故，諸比丘！當除諸色，莫起想著。如是，諸 T 0563b09比丘！當作是學。」
爾時，諸比丘聞佛所說，歡 T 0563b10喜奉行。
T 0563b11 SC 1Thus I have heard: One time, the Buddha was staying at Anāthapiṇḍada’s Park in Jeta’s Grove of Śrāvastī.
SC 2It was then that the Bhagavān addressed the monks, “I don’t see a single thing in this assembly so supreme and sublime that prevents the benighted worldly person from reaching eternal peace and chains them in a prison where they have no freedom. That is, when a woman sees a man’s form, she becomes attached to the perceptions it produces. A woman’s mind craves and esteems it so much that it prevents her from reaching eternal peace and chains her in a prison where she has no freedom. Her mind won’t abandon it, and then she goes round and round being reborn. In this world and the next, she circulates among the five destinies for numerous eons.”
SC 3The Bhagavān then spoke in verse:
“When mistaken perceptions arise,
They generate thoughts of love and craving.
Abandon thinking that’s addictive,
Then these defilements won’t exist.
SC 4“Therefore, monks, one should abandon forms. Don’t become attached to the perceptions they produce. Thus, monks, you should train yourselves.”
SC 5When the monks heard what the Buddha taught, they rejoiced and approved.
