Tôi nghe như vầy:
Một thời, Phật trú trong vườn Lộc dã, Tiên nhân trú xứ, nước Ba-la-nại. Bấy giờ Thế Tôn bảo các Tỳ-kheo:
“Có bốn Thánh đế. Những gì là bốn? Đó là Khổ Thánh đế, Khổ tập Thánh đế, Khổ diệt Thánh đế, Khổ diệt đạo tích Thánh đế. Tỳ-kheo đối với Khổ Thánh đế đã biết, đã hiểu; đối với Khổ tập Thánh đế đã biết, đã đoạn; đối với Khổ diệt Thánh đế đã biết, đã chứng; đối với con đường đưa đến sự diệt tận của Khổ Thánh đế đã biết, đã tu. Như vậy, Tỳ-kheo đoạn ái dục, cởi bỏ các kết sử, đối với mạn, chứng đắc hiện quán, đến nơi tột cùng của mé khổ.”
Phật nói kinh này xong, các Tỳ-kheo nghe những gì Đức Phật dạy, hoan hỷ phụng hành.
如是我聞：
一時，佛住波羅［木＊奈］仙人住T 0104b21處鹿野苑中。
爾時，世尊告諸比丘：「有四聖T 0104b22諦。何等為四？謂苦聖諦、苦集聖諦、苦滅聖T 0104b23諦、苦滅道跡聖諦。若比丘於苦聖諦已知、T 0104b24已解，於苦集聖諦已知、已斷，於苦滅聖諦T 0104b25已知、已證，於苦滅道跡聖諦已知、已修。如T 0104b26是比丘則斷愛欲，轉去諸結，於慢、無明T 0104b27等究竟苦邊。」
佛說此經已，諸比丘聞佛所T 0104b28說，歡喜奉行。
T 0104b29 SC 1Thus have I heard. At one time, the Buddha was dwelling in Vārāṇasī, at the Deer Park of Ṛṣipatana.
SC 2At that time, the Bhagavān said to the bhikṣus, “There are four noble truths. What are these four? That is to say, [1] the Noble Truth of Suffering, [2] the Noble Truth of the Accumulation of Suffering, [3] the Noble Truth of the Cessation of Suffering, and [4] the Noble Truth of the Path Leading to the Cessation of Suffering.
SC 3“For a bhikṣu, [1] if the Noble Truth of Suffering has been known, it has been understood. [2] If the Noble Truth of the Accumulation of Suffering has been known, it has been severed. [3] If the Noble Truth of the Cessation of Suffering has been known, it has been realized. [4] If the Noble Truth of the Path Leading to the Cessation of Suffering has been known, then it has been cultivated.
SC 4“For a bhikṣu it is also such as this for severing affection and desire, turning away from various bonds. As for pride, ignorance, etc., they are ultimately with suffering.”
SC 5After the Buddha had spoken this sūtra, the bhikṣus heard what the Buddha had said, and joyfully practiced in accordance.
