Tôi nghe như vầy:
Một thời, Phật ở trong vườn Cấp cô độc, rừng cây Kỳ-đà, nước Xá-vệ. Bấy giờ Đức Thế Tôn bảo các Tỳ-kheo:
“Nói tụ bất thiện tức chỉ cho năm triền cái. Đó là chánh thuyết. Vì sao? Tụ chỉ thuần bất thiện, đó là năm triền cái. Những gì là năm? Đó la tham dục, sân nhuế, thùy miên, trạo hối và nghi cái.
“Nói tụ thiện, tức chỉ cho tám Thánh đạo. Đó là chánh thuyết. Vì sao? Tụ chỉ thuần đầy pháp thiện, đó là tám Thánh đạo. Những gì là tám? Đó là chánh kiến, chánh chí, chánh ngữ, chánh nghiệp, chánh mạng, chánh phương tiện, chánh niệm, chánh định.”
Sau khi Phật nói kinh này xong, các Tỳ-kheo nghe những gì Phật đã dạy, đều hoan hỷ phụng hành.
如是我聞：
一時，佛住舍衛國祇樹給T 0200b24孤獨園。
爾時，世尊告諸比丘：「說不善聚者，T 0200b25謂五蓋，是為正說。所以者何？純一不善聚T 0200b26者，所謂五蓋。何等為五？謂貪欲蓋，瞋恚、眠T 0200b27睡、掉悔、疑蓋。說善法聚者，所謂八聖道，是T 0200b28名正說。所以者何？純一滿淨善聚者，謂八聖T 0200b29道。何等為八？謂正見、正志、正語、正業、正命、正T 0200c01方便、正念、正定。」
佛說此經已，諸比丘聞佛T 0200c02所說，歡喜奉行。
T 0200c03 SC 1Thus have I heard: One time, the Buddha was staying at Anāthapiṇḍada’s Park in Jeta’s Grove of Śrāvastī.
SC 2It was then that the Bhagavān addressed the monks, “The expression ‘bad aggregate’ means the five hindrances. This is the correct explanation. What is the reason for that? It’s an entirely unwholesome aggregate that’s called the five hindrances. What are the five? They are the hindrance of greed … anger … drowsiness … restlessness, and the hindrance of doubt.
SC 3“The expression ‘good aggregate’ means the noble eightfold path. This is called the correct explanation. What is the reason for that? It’s an entirely, fully, and purely good aggregate that’s called the noble eightfold path. What are the eight? They are right view, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right method, right mindfulness, and right samādhi.”
SC 4After the Buddha spoke this sūtra, the monks who heard what the Buddha taught rejoiced and approved.
