Tôi nghe như vầy:
Một thời, Phật ở tại vườn Cấp cô độc, rừng cây Kỳ-đà, nước Xá-vệ. Bấy giờ, Thế Tôn nói với các Tỳ-kheo:
“Nay Ta sẽ nói về thế gian, về sự tập khởi của thế gian, về sự diệt tận thế gian, về con đường đưa đến sự diệt tận thế gian. Hãy lắng nghe và suy nghĩ kỹ.
“Thế nào là thế gian? Đó là sáu nội nhập xứ. Những gì là sáu? Nhãn nội nhập xứ, nhĩ, tỷ, thiệt, thân, ý nội nhập xứ.
“Thế nào là sự tập khởi thế gian? Đó là tham ái đối hữu tương lai, đi đôi với tham và hỷ, ước vọng tái sanh chỗ này chỗ kia.
“Thế nào là sự diệt tận thế gian? Đó là tham ái đối hữu tương lai, đi đôi với tham và hỷ, ước vọng tái sanh chỗ này chỗ kia, đã được đoạn trừ không dư tàn, đã xả bỏ, đã nhả ra, đã dứt sạch, đã ly dục, tịch diệt, tịch tịnh, tĩnh chỉ.
“Thế nào là con đường đưa đến sự diệt tận? Là tám Thánh đạo: chánh kiến, chánh chí, chánh ngữ, chánh nghiệp, chánh mạng, chánh phương tiện, chánh niệm, chánh định.”
Phật nói kinh này xong, các Tỳ-kheo nghe những gì Đức Phật dạy, hoan hỷ phụng hành.
如是我聞：
一時，佛住舍衛國祇樹給T 0056c03孤獨園。
爾時，世尊告諸比丘：「我今當說世T 0056c04間、世間集、世間滅、世間滅道跡。諦聽，善思。
T 0056c05「云何為世間？謂六內入處。云何六？眼內入處，T 0056c06耳、鼻、舌、身、意內入處。
「云何世間集？謂當來有T 0056c07愛，喜、貪俱，彼彼集著。
「云何世間滅？謂當來有T 0056c08愛，喜、貪俱，彼彼集著無餘斷，已捨、已吐、已盡、T 0056c09離欲、滅、止、沒。
「云何世間滅道跡？謂八聖道，正T 0056c10見、正志、正語、正業、正命、正方便、正念、正定。」
佛T 0056c11說此經已，諸比丘聞佛所說，歡喜奉行。
T 0056c12 SC 1Thus I have heard: One time, the Buddha was staying at Anāthapiṇḍada’s Park in Jeta’s Grove of Śrāvastī.
SC 2It was then that the Bhagavān told the monks, “Now, I will discuss the world, the world’s formation, the world’s cessation, and the path to the world’s cessation. Listen closely, and well consider it!”
SC 3“What is the world? It’s the six inner sense fields. What are the six? The inner sense field of the eye … ear … nose … tongue … body … the inner sense field of the mind.
SC 4“What is the world’s formation? It’s craving, delight, and greed for a future existence. Those things are attached to its formation.
SC 5“What is the world’s cessation? There’s craving, delight, and greed for a future existence. The attachment of those things to its formation is stopped without remainder. Having been abandoned, rejected, and ended, then one is free of desire, and it ceases, stops, and disappears.
SC 6“What is the path to the world’s cessation? It’s the eightfold path, which is right view, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right method, right mindfulness, and right samādhi.”
SC 7After the Buddha spoke this sūtra, the monks who heard what the Buddha taught rejoiced and approved.
